Tezpur, July 4 : Lions Club of Tezpur Greater marked the beginning of the Lionistic Year 2026–27 with a meaningful environmental initiative by organizing a Van Mahotsav Plantation Drive at Hindi Vidyapeeth, Polofield, Tezpur.
Trees Planted for a Greener Campus
As part of the initiative, the school premises were properly cleaned and prepared before planting 10 healthy fruit-bearing and shade-giving trees. The plantation was carried out with a vision to ensure the safe growth and long-term sustainability of the plants.
The newly planted trees are expected to provide nutritious fruits and refreshing shade to the students in the coming years, while also contributing towards ecological balance and a healthier environment.
Promoting Environmental Awareness and Responsibility
Highlighting the importance of tree plantation amid rising temperatures and growing environmental challenges, members of the Lions Club emphasized that planting and protecting trees is one of the most effective steps towards building a sustainable future.
The Club encouraged people to come forward and participate in environmental conservation activities, stressing that collective efforts are essential to protect nature for future generations.
Active Participation by Members and Volunteers
The plantation drive witnessed the active participation of Lions Club of Tezpur Greater President Lion Pranita Medhi, Secretary Lion Inu Gogoi, Immediate Past President Lion Rajiv Jain, and Hindi Vidyapeeth Committee Secretary Rajiv Barua.
Non-Lion volunteer Bhaskar Rajkhowa also joined the initiative and extended his valuable support towards the successful execution of the programme.
