LOHIT, ARUNACHAL PRADESH, September 25 : Preparations have gathered momentum for the grand unveiling of the 51-foot-tall bronze statue of Lord Parshuram at the sacred Parshuram Kund in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district, along with the proposed arrival and reception of the ‘Shri Ram Se Parshuram’ Rath Yatra, which is planned to travel from Ayodhya to Arunachal Pradesh.

As part of the preparations, the Arunachal Pradesh government convened an important high-level administrative meeting attended by around 90 officials and public representatives from different departments and institutions.

The meeting was chaired by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. Detailed deliberations were held on arrangements for the unveiling ceremony, reception of the Rath Yatra, facilities for pilgrims, inter-departmental coordination, security, traffic management and other administrative requirements associated with the major event.

‘Statue of Strength’: A Monumental Symbol of Faith and Spiritual Heritage

The imposing 51-foot bronze statue of Lord Parshuram being installed at the sacred Parshuram Kund has been described as the ‘Statue of Strength’, symbolising devotion, strength and India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

The ambitious project is now nearing completion. Final finishing works on the statue are currently underway, while landscaping and beautification of the surrounding area are also being carried out.

According to the proposed schedule, the grand statue is slated to be unveiled in January 2027 on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The unveiling is expected to become an important milestone for Parshuram Kund as well as for the cultural and spiritual landscape of Arunachal Pradesh, giving greater visibility to the sacred pilgrimage centre at the national level.

Foundation Stone Laid by Amit Shah on May 21, 2022

The foundation stone for the magnificent 51-foot bronze statue of Lord Parshuram was laid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 21, 2022.

Since then, the installation of the statue and associated development works have been taken forward in different phases. With the main project now approaching completion, preparations for the proposed January 2027 unveiling ceremony have entered a crucial stage.

The administration and organisations associated with the project are working towards giving the Makar Sankranti event a broad cultural and spiritual dimension and further highlighting the religious significance of Parshuram Kund.

High-Level Administrative Deliberations Chaired by Chowna Mein

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who has been closely associated with development initiatives at the Parshuram Kund pilgrimage area, chaired the high-level meeting and appreciated the contribution of Vipra Foundation towards the installation of the monumental statue and development of the sacred site.

The meeting extensively discussed coordination among different government departments to ensure that the unveiling ceremony is conducted smoothly and on a large scale.

Special attention was given to arrangements for the movement and convenience of pilgrims, essential amenities, security, traffic management, infrastructure at the venue and the requirements of the large number of devotees and guests expected to attend the programme.

With nearly 90 officials and public representatives participating in the deliberations, the meeting also reviewed the nature of administrative support required for the programme. The state government assured all possible cooperation for the successful conduct of the events.

Grand Reception Planned for ‘Shri Ram Se Parshuram’ Rath Yatra

Another major focus of the meeting was the proposed ‘Shri Ram Se Parshuram’ Rath Yatra, which is planned to travel from Ayodhya to Arunachal Pradesh.

Extensive preparations are being envisaged for a grand reception when the Rath Yatra reaches Arunachal Pradesh, with programmes proposed on a large scale.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the Rath Yatra would represent the spirit of bringing the country’s diverse cultural traditions together and would be accorded a grand welcome upon its arrival in Arunachal Pradesh. He also assured the necessary cooperation from the state government for the programme.

The organisers view the journey from Ayodhya to Arunachal Pradesh as an initiative carrying a message of cultural integration and spiritual consciousness while connecting traditions associated with Lord Shri Ram and Lord Parshuram.

New Impetus to the National Profile of Parshuram Kund

The meeting also highlighted the potential of the monumental statue and the Rath Yatra to further strengthen the national profile of Parshuram Kund.

Situated in Lohit district, Parshuram Kund has long held special significance as a pilgrimage and spiritual destination. A large number of devotees traditionally visit the sacred site during Makar Sankranti.

The unveiling of the 51-foot statue is expected to further enhance the religious, cultural and tourism significance of the pilgrimage centre and draw greater attention from visitors across the country.

Chowna Mein Invites People from Across India to Visit Parshuram Kund

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also invited people from across the Northeast and other parts of India to visit Parshuram Kund and witness the development taking place in the pilgrimage area.

He encouraged visitors to experience Arunachal Pradesh’s natural beauty and hospitality along with the spiritual environment of the sacred site.

Parshuram Kund, he said, offers visitors an opportunity not only to experience a place of deep religious and spiritual significance but also to appreciate the distinctive natural landscape and cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

Deputy Chief Minister Shares Project Progress on Social Media

Chowna Mein also shared an update on social media about the progress of the ‘Statue of Strength’ project at Parshuram Kund.

In his post, he stated that the 51-foot bronze statue of Lord Parshuram at the sacred site in Lohit district was nearing completion and described it as a symbol of devotion, strength and spiritual heritage.

He noted that the foundation stone for the magnificent statue had been laid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 21, 2022.

According to the update shared by the Deputy Chief Minister, the statue is currently undergoing final finishing works, while landscaping is being undertaken around the site. Its unveiling is scheduled for January 2027 on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The project is being presented as a significant initiative aimed at promoting and preserving the region’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Rath Yatra Reception Committee to Be Formed Soon

Vipra Foundation representatives said a dedicated committee would soon be constituted to coordinate the reception of the ‘Shri Ram Se Parshuram’ Rath Yatra when it reaches Arunachal Pradesh.

Following the formation of the committee, preparations for the reception programmes, logistical arrangements and associated activities will be taken forward in a phased manner.

The organisers plan to coordinate with various departments of the Arunachal Pradesh government to give both the Rath Yatra reception and the statue unveiling ceremony a comprehensive and well-organised form.
